Day Eleven Release: Artwork
on Wednesday
It’s 11am on the 11th of November here at the CCSF site, and so we now move on to a bit of a more sombre release from Crystalnorn (who some of you might know as Critter_girl, creator of the Stinky Blue Cheese cob for C2), who reminds us that November 11th isn’t all about Creatures. Once again, please click the thumbnail for a full-view of this lovely piece of artwork.
To explain this artwork to those of you who don’t quite understand, Crystalnorn had the following to say:
“November 11th is also the day of ‘Remembrance Day‘, which is also sometimes called ‘Veterans Day’ or ‘Poppy Day’. It is a day to commemorate the sacrifices of members of the armed forces and of civilians in times of war, specifically since the first world war, WWI. This day is mostly observed by the Commonwealth of Nations, which includes the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia, but it is also observed by many other people around the world.
To honor those of the armed forces, many people wear poppy pins on their clothes. We chose poppies after the poem ‘In Flanders Fields’, and also because some poppies have bloomed in some of the worst battlefields in Flanders of WWI.”
